Doris "Dorie" M. Remensnyder

January 26, 1931 - January 13, 2025

Doris (Dorie) M. Remensnyder, 93, of Belleville, was called home on January 13, 2025. She was born January 26, 1931, in Pittsburgh, PA to George and Mary McComb. Her husband of 59 years, David Remensnyder, preceded her in death in 2015.

Dorie graduated from Penn State University with a degree in education, as she adored children. While raising her family she volunteered with Big Valley Ambulance Club, Hospice Care and worked as a substitute teacher. She later worked in special education, often inviting her students and other children to her home or to join our family outings. She was an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and the prayer group. She was a prayer warrior and prayed for all in need. Certainly, one of her last acts was praying for others.

She and her late husband loved to travel, camping at state and national parks throughout the US, and often spending winters in FL. She loved nature and wildlife, and especially loved dogs. She was skilled at sewing, and a wonderful cook, always keeping her hands busy. She enjoyed swimming, gardening, reading and dog-sitting, but most of all spending time with family. She spent her life being kind, loving and compassionate to others. Above all else she loved the Lord and her family immensely. She was our family’s matriarch, and we feel so blessed to have had the kind, loving, compassionate Mom and Grammy she was to all of us.

Dorie has 4 children, 6 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, 1 brother and 3 nephews. She leaves behind her three sons: Dale (Linda) Remensnyder of Alexandria, PA, their three daughters and families: Julie (Brandon) Allison, Sydney and Lincoln of Sykesville, MD, Jessica (Evan) Wagner, Jarren and Vaida of Land-O-Lakes, FL and Janell Remensnyder, Miles and Elias of Alexandria, PA; Don Remensnyder of Allensville (companion Cheri Freeh); Dirk (Kelley) Remensnyder of Lewisburg, PA, their sons Blake Remensnyder of Lewistown, PA and Kyle Dute (Jessie Kirkwood) of Fresno, CA; and one daughter: Danna Remensnyder (Chad Viator), her son Cade Fox, and daughter Reece Fox, her son Matias all of Lawrenceville, GA, and many grand-dogs; her brother Ben (Judy) McComb of Evergreen, CO and three wonderful nephews, Mark, Mike and Neil McComb all in CO; and many dear friends.

Our family would like to extend our deepest, most sincere appreciation to all the Valley View Retirement Community’s professional staff, hands-on workers and dear friends who made her stay in assisted living such a positive experience. In her own words, ‘they are such caring and wonderful people.’

In lieu of flowers, please show someone else an act of kindness. Should you desire, consider a memorial contribution to your favorite children’s organization or dog rescue.

Services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements are under the care of Henderson Funeral Home, 3813 West Main Street, Belleville.  Online condolences can be made at www.hendersonfuneralhomes.net.
