James J. Allison

September 16, 1930 - October 24, 2024







James J. Allison, 94, of Belleville, passed away on October 14, 2024 at home.


He was born on September 16, 1930 in Hun tingdon County, to the late James H. and Hazel E. (Mateer) Allison.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Ann Allison and a nephew, Robert T. Allison.


Surviving is a brother Robert W. Allison and wife Marie of Mill Creek, PA; nephew: Scott D. Allison and wife Christine of State College, PA; great-nephews:  Matthew S. Allison and Zachary D. Allison.


He was a 1949 graduate of Belleville High School.  He graduated in 1953 from Shippensburg State Teachers College. He was drafted in to the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict in 1953-1954, and obtained the rank of CPL, stationed in Kentucky. He taught school for 32 years in the Philadelphia area (mostly teaching sixth grade).  He was primarily in the same elementary school in the Bristol/Levittown Area.


He enjoyed spending time at his home in Brooksville, FL, where he traveled for 27 years during the winter months.  He also had a love of flower gardening and vegetable gardening and canning his harvests.  


He was a member of the Kish Valley Historical Society (founding member) and a member of the Allensville Community Church (formerly the Allensville Presbyterian Church) and served as a trustee for a couple of years.


Family will receive friends at the Allensville Community Church, 126 East Main Street, Allensville, on Saturday, October 19, 2024 from 10 – 11 a.m., with a memorial service to follow at 11 a.m. with Pastors George “Buddy” Baird and Tyler Covert officiating.  The burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
