September 5, 1954 - February 7, 2025

Loren W. Hartzler, 70, of Belleville, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, February 7, 2025, at his home.
He was born on September 5, 1954, in Mill Creek, to the late Glen and Alta (Hartzler) Hartzler. On October 6, 1973, he married Darlis A. “Dart” (Glick) Hartzler, who survives at their home.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters: Dana J. Haubrick and husband John of Lewistown, Debra J. McCall and husband Benjamin of Altoona; 5 grandchildren: John Haubrick and wife Katie of Lewistown, Levi Haubrick and wife Cora of Lewistown, Tyler McCall of Altoona, Natalie Haubrick of Lewistown, Maddox McCall of Altoona; siblings: Verda Walters of Belleville, Irvin Hartzler and wife Sara of Belleville, Esther Crider and husband Glenn of Shippensburg, Millard Hartzler of Belleville, Edith Martin and husband Ronnie of Shippensburg; a sister-in-law: Jane Freed and husband Steve of WY; 2 brothers-in-law: Donald J. Glick of Belleville; Edwin F. Glick and wife Cheryl of Belleville; as well as 19 nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his in-laws: J.D. and Thelma (Yoder) Glick, a brother-in-law, Fred Walters and a sister-in-law, Arlene Hartzler.
He was a 1973 graduate of Huntingdon High School. He was an over-the-road truck driver for 22 years. He was first employed by Jim Boring Trucking, then he became an independent truck driver, he then joined H & H Truck Repair as a partner; and then worked at Ryder as a diesel mechanic and a service manager. He was recognized for numerous safety & maintenance awards and most notably, he was the “Ryder 2004 CBU Top Tech Winner”. He retired in 2020 after 20 years of service with Ryder. After retirement, he still enjoyed working part-time for MKB in Belleville and for J.B. Eby and Mark Brechbiel. He took great pride in work and even more love and pride in his wife, daughters, and grandchildren.
He loved to travel with his wife and took many special trips with family and friends. He especially liked trips on the motorcycle and trips out west. He loved his time out to eat with friends, and his mornings spent with the guys at the coffee shops.
He enjoyed tinkering in his garage and was “Mr. Fix-it” for many of his family and friends. He loved to use his talents to serve others.
He was a life-long member of Allensville Mennonite Church and served as an elder and Sunday school teacher. He went on several mission trips, including Belarus, Spain and Puerto Rico, and several MDS trips.
A viewing will be held on Tuesday, February 11, 2025 from 5 – 8 p.m. at the Allensville Mennonite Church, 1156 SR 655, Belleville. On Wednesday, February 12, 2025, family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at the church with Pastors Bob Zook, Adam Peachey, and Randy Sunderland officiating. There will be a private burial at the Allensville Mennonite Cemetery.
