Mildred F. Reiter

July 5, 1925 - April 4, 2024








Mildred F. Reiter, 98, passed away on Thursday, April 4, 2024 at Valley View Haven Nursing Home, Belleville.


She was born on July 5, 1925 in Russell, KS to the late Chester and Anna (Newcomer) Bear.  On May 12, 1946, she married Charles B. Reiter, who passed away on July 23, 2014.


In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son Bradley Reiter on March 2, 2023, an infant son, Allen Dean Reiter, siblings Vernon Bear, Vera Hinnen, Floyd Bear, Loren Bear, and Everett Bear.  She was the last of her immediate family.


Surviving are a son Berwin Reiter and wife Mary of Colorado Springs, Co, a daughter-in-law Stella Reiter of Valley View Haven, Belleville; four grandchildren, Brent Reiter and wife Sharon of Boulder, CO, Mindy Martin and husband John of Colorado Springs, CO, Carolyn Schnur and husband Steve of Pheonix, MD, Keith Reiter and wife Valerie of Palm Harbor, FL; and seven great-grandchildren, Evan, Jason, Maya, Julia, Charlotte, Taylor, and Sophia.


She graduated from Russell High School and attended one year of business school at Brown Mackie College.  She was primarily a homemaker.


She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Huntingdon for 58 years and was a member of the Comrade Sunday school class.  She volunteered at the Huntingdon Food Bank for twenty-five years, Meals on Wheels for twenty-three years, served on Meals on Wheels Board for nine years and Sunday School helper for twenty years.  Her hobbies included golf, bowling, and spending time with family and friends.


Services are planned for a later date.
