Sherman L. Glick

August 19, 1936 - October 1, 2024









Sherman L. Glick, 88, of 174 Haller Lane, Lewistown, passed away on Tuesday, October 1, 2024.


Born on August 19, 1936 in Reedsville, he was the son of the late Jonathan H. and Mamie (Roth) Glick.  On June 18, 1960, he married Kay M. (Randolph) Glick, who passed away on July 13, 2000.


Surviving are children: Susan A. Shank and husband Thomas of Lewistown, David Glick and wife Jami of Lewistown, Christine G. Orwig and husband Jim of Mifflintown; Grandchildren: Jonas Glick, Kati J. Smith and husband Michael, Adriene Zook and husband Jonathan, Anthony Shank and wife Jordan, Makayla Gilbert and husband Hunter, Will Orwig and fiancé Mackenzie Lyter and seven great-grandchildren; siblings: Rebecca Yoder and husband Joshua D. of Belleville, Mark Glick and wife Bonnie of Reedsville, Marian R. Stoltzfus of Lititz, PA, Eugene Glick of Reedsville, Jane Cypher and husband Virgil of Florida, Helen Delaney and husband Sam of Belleville; brother-in-law: George Sunderland and wife Lisa of Reedsville.


In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter Paula J. Fisher and son-in-law, Jacob E. Fisher, a brother John Glick and a sister Ada Yoder.


He was a self-employed dairy farmer and cattle dealer; stockholder at Belleville Livestock Market, owner/operator of G&M Livestock Market; most recently, he was owner/operator of Kish Valley Dairy Sales and Buying Station.  He had a passion for being a livestock dealer.

He was a board member of Reedsville National Bank, then Russell National Bank, member of the PA Farm Bureau, PA Holstein Association, and Mifflin County Holstein Association; a member of McVeytown Lodge 376 F&AM; member of Tall Cedars of Lebanon, member of Jaffa Shrine Temple of Altoona; formerly a member of Allensville Presbyterian Church, where he served a an elder and on the Session.


He was an avid supporter of 4-H and FFA; he enjoyed being in the mountains and hunting.  He thoroughly enjoyed watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren play sports and activities.

A viewing will be held on Friday, October 4, 2024, from 2 – 4 p.m. and 6 – 8 p.m. at Henderson Funeral Home, 3813 West Main Street, Belleville, also from 9 – 10 a.m. on Saturday morning at the West Kish Presbyterian Church, 3820 West Main Street, Belleville. The funeral service will immediately follow at 10 a.m. with Rev. Graham Fowler officiating.  Burial will be held at the Mooresville Cemetery, Petersburg, PA.
