Thomas L. Storm

February 11, 1947-March 17, 2025









Thomas Leo Storm was born in Gallitzin Township, Pennsylvania to the late Charles Edward Storm and Gertrude Mary (Gallagher) Storm on February 11, 1947. He was the ninth of 13 children.


Tom was a member of the inaugural graduating class of Bishop Carroll Catholic High School in Ebensburg, PA. While a student at Lock Haven State College, he met Janet Shuey. They were married at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lock Haven on August 23, 1969. Moving to Janet’s hometown of Lewistown, he spent more than 30 years operating Storm Carpet Service. He then spent 22 years as the maintenance supervisor at Sacred Heart Catholic Parish where he was also a member. After retirement, he enjoyed developing relationships with the Amish community. Though he spent his adult life in the Juniata Valley, his heart never left the Laurel Highlands.


He is survived by his wife Janet and five children: Mary Storm-Baranyai and

husband Jozsef Baranyai IV of Newark, Delaware; Michael Storm of

Philadelphia; Joseph Storm and wife Norah of McClure; Anne Storm and

husband Matthew Kroh of Pittsburgh, and Emily Storm of Chester, Connecticut.

He is survived by three grandchildren, Chloe Boreman of Belleville, Owen Storm

of Lemoyne, and Jozsef Baranyai V of Newark, Delaware.


He is predeceased by sister LaRue Grimes, and brothers Robert, Donald,

Charles, Norman, and Francis. He is predeceased by brothers-in-law Hayden

Grimes, James Fleming, and David McCarter. 


He is survived by sisters Dorothy Fleming, Lois Simanski and husband Edward, Janet Durbin and husband H. Hampton, Rita Burgoon and husband Fred, Sheila Bottenfield and husband Randall, and Cynthia Storm and husband Keith Van Blargan. He is survived by sisters-in-law Audrey Storm and Verna Storm. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.


A visitation will be held at Henderson Funeral Home, 3813 West Main Street, Belleville, PA on Saturday, March 22, 2025, from 10:00 to 11:00 am, followed by a brief prayer service. 


At the convenience of the family, his remains will be laid to rest in his hometown of Ashville in the Saint Thomas Cemetery. A funeral mass will be held at the Saint

Thomas Catholic Church, just a few miles from where he was born, baptized, and confirmed.

Tom was a good friend, he was also a friend of my late father, Regis Zewe.  Tom laid my carpet at my home many years ago and also loaned me his tile saw so I could complete my bathroom.  I was just thinking about him the other day.  Please accept my deepest sympathies.
